PUMA Series. Multi-emitter pump source up to 35W fibre-coupled CW power
Laser diode pumps in
spectral region from 635 up to 1700 nm are required for optical pumping of fiberdevices
based on rare-earth doped double clad fibres. Because power from single chip laserdiodes
is limited Milon Laser pump modules for advanced applications PUMA offer not only
ten fold increase in fibre coupled optical power, but also flexibility and compactness of
truly advanced fibre pump for demanding applications.
PUMA is based on the state of the art technology of highly reliable single stripe laser diodes with life-time exceeding 100,000 hours and can operate without TE cooling at ambient temperatures exceeding
60°C. Serial connection of the laser diodes and built-in electronics driver result in efficient current
regulation and this in turn translates into high electrical-to-optical power conversion
efficiency.
PUMA delivers up to 35 W of CW optical power in a 100 µm, 0.22 NA all glass multimode
optical fibre while the state of the art optical packaging provide unprecedented
brightness and reliability. PUMA comes in basic configurations with 10W, 15W and 20W of
output power. Typical operating wavelength is 660, 810, 915 or 970 nm although other
wavelengths are also available on request.

Safety and Operating Considerations
The laser light emitted from this module is
invisible and may be harmful to the human eye.
Avoid looking directly into the pump module.
CAUTION: THE USE OF OPTICAL INSTRUMENTS WITH THIS PRODUCT WILL INCREASE EYE HAZARD
Operating the pump module at its maximum ratings may
cause device degradation or even failure, which accelerates with increased temperature, and therefore attention to minimise the case temperature is strongly advised. A proper heat sink for the pump module on a thermal radiator will greatly enhance pump module life. Firmly mount the module on a radiator with a thermal impedance of less than 0.5° C/W for increased reliability.
